GPS chip helps Mumbai police catch firing, robbery accused

Mumbai, Jan 8: In a quick and efficient operation, Mumbai police have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery and firing incident near a hospital in south Mumbai.

Late Monday night, a man and his nephew were targeted while transporting gold ornaments worth ?42.27 lac on their two-wheeler near St George Hospital. Four unidentified assailants stopped them, assaulted them, and one opened fire, injuring the nephew before fleeing with the valuables.

Thanks to a GPS chip attached to the bag and CCTV footage, police quickly tracked down one suspect near Lokmanya Tilak Marg and another from Dongri, recovering stolen ornaments worth ?16.50 lac. Search operations are still underway for the remaining two culprits.

The swift use of technology helped bring justice to the victims in record time.
