Mumbai, Jan 16: A grand felicitation ceremony was held on Saturday to honour renowned social workers N P Suvarna and Prabha Suvarna by their fan club. The event took place at the Guru Narayana Hall in Billava Bhavan, Santacruz East.
Presiding over the ceremony was Dr Sadananda R Shetty, a celebrated cardiologist and recipient of the Outlook Best Doctors Award. Esteemed personalities, including renowned folk singer G N Swamy from Bengaluru, Mahesh Hotel Group Director Sharada S Karkera, Yashoda N T Poojary, Vrinda Gokarna, and Karnataka Sangh Andheri President Bhaskar Suvarna Sasihitlu, attended the event to extend their best wishes.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sadananda Shetty said, "The unwavering dedication and divine blessings have enabled the Suvarna couple to achieve remarkable success in both their personal and social lives. Their tireless efforts even in their seventies make them a source of inspiration for the younger generation."
The Suvarna couple was welcomed into Billava Bhavan in a grand procession accompanied by a chariot, band music, and traditional instruments. On stage, they were honoured with shawls, traditional headgear, ornamental crowns, floral garlands, and mementos as part of the felicitation.
As part of the celebrations, a devotional group singing competition was organized, featuring ten teams. The winners were Shivapriya Bhajana Mandali, Virar Road (1st place), Navodaya Kannada Seva Sangh, Thane (2nd place), and Dahanurkarwadi Kannada Sangh, Kandivali (3rd place). The winners and all participants received cash prizes and commemorative mementos.
Several notable individuals attended the event, including architect Naveenchandra Sanil, Mallikarjuna Badiger, family members of the Suvarna couple such as Rajesh Gokarna and Shashikanth Karkera, and M Aryaman Gokarna. The evening featured a Nadaswara recital by Prasad and his team from Bengaluru, as well as folk songs performed by singer G N Swamy.
The programme was anchored by Daya Sagar Chouta and Deepa Paresh Shetty from Dombivli. Prabha Suvarna expressed her gratitude during the event, thanking all those who contributed to making the ceremony a memorable one.
