Mangaluru, Jan 17: Alleging negligence by the Konaje police in investigating the theft of a pump set, the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (Hasiru Sene) delegation has lodged a complaint with the Mangaluru city police commissioner.

The incident occurred at Kutthimogaru in Harekal village, Ullal taluk, where a 50-year-old 10 HP electric pump belonging to Sujata T Naik was stolen from her farmland 10 days ago. Despite filing a complaint at Konaje police station, the authorities have failed to apprehend the culprits, causing fear among other farmers.

The Kutthimogaru area, known for its religious significance, has reportedly become a hub for drug-related activities due to the lack of streetlights and CCTV surveillance. Youths are said to gather here after 11 PM, contributing to the law-and-order concerns. Farmers, already facing challenges due to erratic voltage during the day, are forced to irrigate their fields at night, further heightening their vulnerability.

In response to these issues, the delegation has urged the police commissioner to not only arrest the culprits involved in the pump theft but also take stringent measures to control the drug mafia in the area.

The delegation included state secretary Manohar Shetty Nadikambalaguttu, district president Sridhar Shetty Bailuguttu, Bhaskar Rai Sampigedadi, Bhaskar Safaliga Tumbe, and Sudesh Maiya Bantwal.
