Mandatory family e-KYC for ration cards: Benefits to be stopped if missed

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jan 25: The state government has provided a final opportunity for ration card holders to complete the e-KYC process for all family members. According to the food and civil supplies department, families who fail to complete the e-KYC within the stipulated time will have their ration benefits discontinued.

While some beneficiaries have already updated their details using OTP, the department has clarified that biometric verification to confirm the presence of family members is mandatory.

All ration card holders must provide e-KYC for every family member listed in their card. Information such as the cardholder's name, relationship, gender, caste, LPG details, and mobile number must be promptly updated. Beneficiaries must carry necessary documents, including Aadhaar cards, LPG details, caste certificates (if applicable), income certificates, and proof of special categories, such as Endosulfan victims, if applicable. These documents must be submitted at the nearest fair price shop for e-KYC processing.

For Antyodaya and Priority (BPL) ration cards, completing the e-KYC process is mandatory and free of charge. Measures have been taken to provide the e-KYC service at fair price shops at no cost. Beneficiaries can also complete the e-KYC at Karnataka One or Grama One centers.

The food and civil supplies department has urged all ration cardholders to cooperate and complete the e-KYC process promptly. For further information, individuals can contact the respective taluk tahsildars, assistant directors, or offices overseeing the public distribution system in their region.

Benefits will be stopped ha ha ha. Is this a joke. The ration card is a joke anyway. The APL card holders dont get anything. Ration card now serves only as a additional address proof.
