Mangaluru, Jan 30: MP Capt Brijesh Chowta stated that the top priority is to ensure that the B C Road to Periashanthi highway is fully motorable, with 90% of the work expected to be completed by the end of May. He spoke during an inspection of the highway construction from B C Road to Uppinangady, accompanied by NHAI officials.

Project director Abdulla Javed provided tentative completion dates for the highway construction from BC Road to Periashanthi. He mentioned that the BC Road junction is completed, and the Narayana Guru Circle will be finished by the end of May. The Panemangaluru and Melkar flyovers are near completion and will be finished by the end of February.

Regarding the road near Narahari Parvatha, the first half will be completed by March 15, with the other half to follow by the end of May. The service road at Kalladka is expected to be completed by March 15, and vehicular movement at the Kalladka flyover will begin by May. The Mani flyover will be completed by the end of March. The Uppinangady-Nekkilady stretch is scheduled for completion by February, while the Uppinangady junction will be ready by May 15. The Subramanya crossing is set to open in March. According to Abdulla Javed, the entire connectivity is expected to be completed by the end of March.

MP Brijesh Chowta acknowledged that some issues, such as compensation, construction of retaining walls, and drainage work, need to be addressed. He directed the officials to resolve these concerns. He further assured that 90% of the work will be completed by May, except in two locations—Narahari Parvatha and Neerkatte—where controlled blasting will be required. He emphasized that all flyover construction should be completed by May, except for those areas needing blasting.

Project director Abdulla Javed added that out of the 48 km stretch, 35.35 km has been completed since the project began in November 2021. For the 15 km from Periashanthi to Addahole, 14.5 km has already been finished. He assured that 90% of the work from BC Road to Periashanthi will be completed by the end of May.

AGM Rohit Reddy mentioned that the 15 km stretch had more curves, which required significant straightening work. About 25 lac cubic meters of earth were cut to straighten the curves. He also confirmed that a toll gate will be installed at Neerkatte.
