Tragic accident in Ferozepur: 9 dead in truck-canter collision

Ferozepur, Jan 31: In a devastating road accident on Friday morning, at least nine people lost their lives following a collision between a pickup truck and a canter near Golu Ka Mod, close to Guru Har Sahay in Ferozepur.

The tragic incident, which occurred around 10 am, was reportedly caused by a tire burst in the canter. The passengers in the pickup truck were returning after working at a marriage palace in Jalalabad.

Deputy superintendent of police, Guruharsahai, Satnam Singh, informed that teams from the Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF) promptly arrived at the accident site to initiate rescue operations.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals in Guruharsahai and Jalalabad, while those critically injured were referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot for advanced medical care.

Initial reports suggest the pickup van was overcrowded, carrying over 20 passengers at the time of the accident. Further investigations are underway to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances of the collision.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety and vehicle maintenance.
