Bantwal, Feb 16: In a shocking twist to the Bolanthur robbery case, where criminals impersonated Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials to raid the house of Narsh Sulaiman Haji, an assistant sub-inspector from Kerala’s Thrissur district has been arrested along with three more accused. The gang had duped a businessman of Rs 30 lac in Bolanthuru's Narsha, under Vittal police station limits.
The accused, identified as Shafeer Babu (48), was serving at the Kodungallur police station in Thrissur. He was allegedly the mastermind behind the robbery and was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the case.

The case dates back to January 3, when a gang pretending to be ED officials raided a businessman's house in Bolanthuru's Narsha and made away with Rs 30 lac in cash. Investigation led to the arrest of three individuals from Kerala — Anil Fernandes (49), Sachin T S (29), and Shabin S (27) — who are currently in judicial custody.
Further probe led to the arrest of local accused Sirajuddin (37) from Kolnadu, Bantwal, on February 15. During interrogation, he revealed information that helped the police nab two more individuals — Mohammad Iqbal (38) from Bantwal and Mohammad Ansar (27) from Padil, Mangaluru.
With the latest arrest of Shafeer Babu, the key conspirator in the case, the investigation has made significant progress.
The arrests were made under the guidance of district superintendent of police Yathish N, IPS. Four special teams, comprising officers experienced in investigating criminal activities, were deployed from various police stations in the district to track down the accused.
The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge.
