Kolkata, Feb 27: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the BJP of orchestrating a large-scale voter list manipulation ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, claiming that an online agency has been engaged to facilitate voting by outsiders in the state.
Addressing a Trinamool Congress (TMC) meeting, Banerjee alleged that two agencies—Association of Brilliant Minds and Company India 360—have been tasked with tampering with voter data. “These agencies have approached data entry operators and, in collusion with corrupt block-level returning officers, are linking the names of voters from other states with the EPIC numbers of West Bengal voters,” she claimed.
The Chief Minister pointed out that individuals from Haryana, Gujarat, Bihar, Punjab, and Rajasthan were being added to the state’s voter rolls, with the highest numbers coming from Haryana and Gujarat.

“This is not a new tactic. The same strategy was used in elections in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Haryana, where BJP manipulated voter lists to secure victory. Other parties failed to detect it in time, but in Bengal, we have identified the plot early, and we will not let it succeed,” Banerjee asserted.
To counter this alleged malpractice, she announced the formation of district-level core committees within the TMC. Their sole task will be to detect irregularities in voter lists across districts and report findings to a centralized committee, headed by West Bengal TMC President Subrata Bakshi.
“The identification of bogus voters must be completed within 10 days. If the committee fails, I will personally take charge of identifying the fake entries,” Banerjee warned.
Abhishek Banerjee Challenges CBI Over Charge Sheet
Meanwhile, TMC general secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee raised questions about the CBI’s reluctance to disclose the full identity of an individual named "Abhishek Banerjee" in a recent charge sheet.
Speaking at the meeting, he criticized the investigation agency, saying, “They claim to have filed a charge sheet against me, but my full details—residence, identity—are missing. The CBI is acting in an impersonal manner. I welcome their fear, but I do not believe in doublespeak.”
Reiterating his stand against corruption, Abhishek Banerjee declared, “If anyone can prove wrongdoing against me, I am ready to face the consequences. I said it before, and I say it again.”
He also emphasized that his loyalty lies solely with the people of Bengal, stating, “Abhishek Banerjee will never bow down before anyone except the common people.”
