Mumbai, Mar 13: The Women’s Wing of Bunts Sangha Mumbai celebrated Women’s Day on Saturday, March 8, at the Smt Radhabai Thimmappa Bhandary Auditorium in Buntar Bhavan, Chunabhatti, Kurla East. The event was held under the presidency of Praveen Bhoj Shetty and the guidance of women's wing working president Chitra R Shetty.
The Women’s Day celebration and the silver jubilee of Geeta S M Shetty Women’s Hostel were held on a stage set up in memory of Daddangadi Chelladka Bhavani Deranna Shetty, under the principal sponsorship of Dr R K Shetty, chairman and managing director of Issar Financial Services Pvt Ltd. The ceremony was inaugurated with a tulsi plant worship ritual, prayers, and lighting of the lamp by Matanandamayi of Odiyoor Sri Gurudevadatta Sansthan and other dignitaries present on the dais, who also gave their blessings.




















Industrialist, educationist, and social worker Rakhi Shetty was the chief guest, while Priyanka Jikshit Shetty, director of Bhavani Group of Companies, was the guest of honor. Women's wing vice president Kavita I R Shetty, secretary Aata Sudhir Shetty, treasurer Suchita K Shetty, joint secretary Vanita Y Nonda, and joint treasurer Saroja B Shetty were also present on stage.
On this occasion, achievers of the year were honoured, including Shikha Abhishek Shetty, director of Bhavani Group of Companies; Priyanka Jikshit Shetty of Bhavani Foundation; social worker Dr Shashi Praveen Shetty; Pooja Jitesh Shetty, co-founder of The India Source; Akshata Vishwanath Shetty, director of Vineet Precious Catalysis Pvt Ltd; and Anushka B Shetty, founder and principal of Anushka Shetty Architecture. They were felicitated with shawls, mementos, and floral tributes by the president and women’s wing office-bearers.
Renowned writer and poet Dr Sunita Shetty was conferred the title of ‘Bunti Shiromani’ by the Bunts Sangha Women’s Wing. The 2025 Silver Jubilee Achievement Award was presented to distinguished social worker and writer Sarala R Shetty.
Special achievers, including Miss Maharashtra 2024 winner Pramitha Shetty, principal of Kannada Bhavan Institution Amrita Shetty, chartered accountant Rajashree Shetty, and Megha Shetty, were also honoured.
Before the event, a special puja was conducted at the Shri Mahavishnu Temple on the premises, followed by the women’s procession to Buntar Bhavan’s main stage, carrying tulsi plants and kalash, accompanied by a women's chende (drum) team.
As part of the cultural programme, ‘Tulu Vaibhav’ was presented by Srushti S Shetty of Kananjaru and Usha Shetty. Madyaguthu Lavanya Vishwas produced the Sai Shakti Kala Balaga Mangaluru’s performance of the mythological play ‘Jodu Jeetige’. A dance competition was also held for the nine regional committees of the Sangha.
Aruna Prabha B Shetty led the prayer. The youth wing performed the Sri Ganesha dance. Suchita K Shetty read out the felicitation note. Prashanthi D Shetty introduced Dr Sunita Shetty. Akshata S Shetty compered the event, while Vanita Y Nonda proposed the vote of thanks.
