New Delhi, Mar 26: BJP leader Danish Azad Ansari has strongly defended the contentious Waqf Amendment Bill, asserting that those opposing it are standing against the progress and welfare of the Muslim community.
In an exclusive conversation, Ansari highlighted that the Bill is designed to facilitate the development of educational and healthcare institutions on Waqf land, ensuring free education and medical services for economically disadvantaged Muslims.
"Opposing the Waqf Amendment Bill is essentially opposing the betterment of the Muslim community. The Narendra Modi government is committed to building schools and hospitals on Waqf land to provide free education and healthcare to underprivileged Muslims. What is the problem with that?" he questioned.

Ansari also criticized opposition parties and certain individuals for resisting initiatives aimed at uplifting the Muslim community. "Each time we propose measures for Muslim development, some Opposition leaders create hurdles. They do not want the poor Muslims to thrive. However, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, we are sincerely working towards their prosperity," he stated.
The Waqf Amendment Bill has sparked nationwide debate, facing resistance from several Muslim organizations, including Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. Critics argue that the proposed amendments could lead to the mismanagement of Waqf properties and reduce the Muslim community’s authority over their own charitable assets. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has also voiced strong opposition, announcing mass protests against the Bill across various parts of the country.
Addressing the upcoming Eid festival, Ansari spoke about the government’s efforts to support the Muslim community during the festive season. "Eid is a festival of joy, and Prime Minister Modi ji treats every Muslim as part of his family. To ensure that even the poorest among us celebrate Eid with happiness, the government is distributing 'Modi Kits' containing sevaiyan (vermicelli), dry fruits, dates, and gifts for our underprivileged brothers and sisters," he shared.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to Muslim welfare, Ansari stated, "The Modi government is dedicated to fostering progress and well-being in the Muslim community, and we are earnestly working towards this goal."
