Jharkhand horror: Man kills wife, son using iron pan in Saraikela

Saraikela, Mar 31: A gruesome double murder rocked Jharkhand’s Saraikela district on Monday morning after a man bludgeoned his wife and five-year-old son to death using an iron pan, police said.

The crime occurred in the Kapali OP area, where the accused, Sukhram Munda, allegedly attacked his wife, Parvati Devi, and son, Ganesh Munda, following a domestic dispute. Neighbours reported hearing heated arguments early in the morning, followed by terrified screams. When they rushed to the house, they found the mother and child lying in pools of blood with severe head injuries.

Sukhram, who fled the scene, was arrested near the village shortly after. Police recovered a blood-stained iron pan and a blade, suspecting he used the pan for the attack before slitting their throats with the blade.

Preliminary investigations suggest alcohol-fuelled arguments were a frequent issue in the household. Relatives of the deceased have demanded strict action against the accused.

Kapali OP in-charge Sonu Kumar confirmed that the murder weapon was recovered and that forensic teams are examining the scene. "The accused is being interrogated to determine the exact sequence of events," he stated.
