Mumbai, Apr 5: A delegation from the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations Maharashtra (FHRAM) met with Maharashtra state excise commissioner Rajesh Deshmukh in Mumbai on Friday. The delegation submitted a memorandum to discuss the concerns of FL-3 permit room license holders.

The delegation held detailed discussions with the Excise Commissioner regarding the challenges faced by permit rooms and beer bars (FL-3 licensees) across the state. They urged the commissioner to revoke the annual license renewal fee and requested the implementation of a primary excise duty on alcohol manufacturing. This, they argued, would not only address the current concerns of the license holders but also increase revenue for the government through alcohol sales.

During the discussion, the delegation also conveyed the challenges faced by permit room license holders. They suggested the removal of the mandatory boundary rule for permit rooms and advocated for lifting the restriction that allows alcohol consumption only by customers who possess a valid permit receipt, said FHRAAM vice president Shyam N Shetty.

Present during the meeting were FHRAAM vice president Dayanand Shetty, general secretary Durgaprasad C Salian, joint secretary Bhaskar Shetty, advisory committee chairperson Kalatturu Vishwanath J Shetty, and hotel entrepreneur Suresh Shetty Yeyyadi.
