Chennai, Aug 17: Actor Allu Arjun has praised Arun Matheswaran's latest action thriller DC, calling it a “Tamil classic” and urging film lovers to watch the movie.

After watching the film, the Pushpa star took to X and wrote, “Watched #DC! It's a Tamil classic. Every film lover must watch it. It's poetry for those who get it.”

Allu Arjun congratulated the entire team and singled out director Arun Matheswaran, saying his work on the film deserved the “highest respect”.

He also praised Anirudh Ravichander's music, describing him as an “absolute master booster”, while appreciating the film's technical aspects and performances.

Allu Arjun lauded Wamiqa Gabbi and lead actor Lokesh Kanagaraj. Addressing Lokesh directly, he called him “my director” and described him as the “biggest pillar of support”.

The praise comes as Allu Arjun is set to collaborate with Lokesh Kanagaraj on the latter's Telugu directorial debut, tentatively titled AA23. The project was announced earlier this year and is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers, with Anirudh Ravichander associated as music composer.

Allu Arjun is also currently working on Raaka, his upcoming film with director Atlee. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features Deepika Padukone in the cast.

Allu Arjun's praise came a day after Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu also lauded DC, calling it an “original and outstanding film” and saying he “loved every bit of it”.

Arun Matheswaran responded by thanking Mahesh Babu for watching and appreciating the film, while Anirudh Ravichander also expressed his gratitude to the Telugu star.

DC follows Devadas, played by Lokesh Kanagaraj, an outsider who ends up protecting an innocent family after they become victims of police brutality. As he and his companions attempt to escape a ruthless police officer, the story explores violence, unlikely bonds, justice and redemption.

Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy play the female leads, while Aadukalam Naren, Thalaivasal Vijay and Kasthuri Raja appear in supporting roles.

Released on Aug 7, DC marks Lokesh Kanagaraj's acting debut and is Arun Matheswaran's fourth feature after Rocky, Saani Kaayidham and Captain Miller.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, the film has cinematography by Mukesh G, editing by GK Prasanna and stunt choreography by PC Stunts.

The film has grossed around Rs 85 crore worldwide in 10 days of its theatrical run and is now eyeing the Rs 100-crore milestone.

With praise coming from both Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun, DC continues to attract attention for its performances, music and technical work while maintaining a strong run at the box office.
