Aligarh, Apr 10: In a startling turn of events, a woman from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, eloped with her daughter's fiancé just nine days before the wedding, leaving both families in utter disbelief.

The wedding, which was scheduled for April 16, has now been thrown into chaos after Anita Devi, the bride-to-be’s mother, disappeared from her home along with the groom, Rahul. Shockingly, she also took with her Rs 3 lac in cash and over Rs 5 lac worth of jewelry that had been saved for the nuptials.

According to Jitendra Kumar, Anita’s husband and the father of the bride-to-be, there had been no indication of such a betrayal. “My wife used to talk to our daughter’s fiancé for hours, but we never suspected anything. This has completely devastated our family,” Kumar told PTI.

A police search is currently underway to trace the duo, who have reportedly gone missing since the incident came to light. The incident has not only shattered the wedding plans but also sparked widespread discussions in the local community.
