Nagpur, Apr 13: A 30-year-old IPS officer posted in Maharashtra has been booked for allegedly raping a 28-year-old woman doctor in Nagpur after promising to marry her.

According to police, the two became acquainted via Instagram in November 2022, when the officer was preparing for UPSC exams and the woman was pursuing her MBBS.

Their friendship turned intimate, but after being selected for the Indian Police Service, the officer allegedly began to distance himself and eventually refused to marry her.
