New Delhi, Apr 29: In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested a notorious interstate burglar from a village in Madhya Pradesh, recovering stolen gold and cash linked to a recent high-profile burglary in the national capital’s Sagarpur area.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West District) Surendra Choudhary, the accused, identified as Babloo (32), was apprehended from his native village, Badipura, Ozhar, in Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh.

The arrest stems from a burglary case reported on April 17, when complainant Varun Garwal found his Sagarpur residence ransacked. Burglars had decamped with approximately 500 grams of gold, silver articles, and Rs 50,000 in cash, forcibly breaking the locks on all floors and almirahs.
Investigators, using technical surveillance and CCTV analysis, traced a stolen Honda Shine motorcycle used by the burglars back to the Mayapuri area. A special team, led by SHO Sagarpur and supervised by ACP Delhi Cantt, followed the reverse trail through multiple locations, finally zeroing in on Ojhar village.
Despite facing resistance from locals, the police successfully arrested Babloo, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. The team recovered 94 grams of gold, specialised housebreaking tools, and scissors reshaped into makeshift keys from his possession.
The police also revealed that Babloo's accomplices, who are his relatives from Umarti, Madhya Pradesh, remain on the run. They are reportedly wanted in multiple theft cases across Maharashtra and Gujarat as well.
“Accused Babloo has a history of criminal activities and is also wanted in an Arms Act case registered by Gujarat Police. He was earlier booked under the Arms Act by Delhi's Special Cell in 2021," stated DCP Choudhary.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused and recover the rest of the stolen property.
