Global tributes pour in for victims of Pahalgam terror attack

Budapest, May 1: Indian missions across the globe held solemn ceremonies on Thursday to pay tribute to the 26 innocent tourists killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The coordinated observances reflected global solidarity with India following one of the most horrific attacks in the Kashmir Valley in recent memory.

The attack occurred in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam when four heavily armed terrorists—two reportedly from Pakistan opened indiscriminate fire on tourists, leaving several others critically injured.

In Budapest, the Indian Embassy hosted a condolence meeting where members of the Indian community and 'friends of India' gathered to offer prayers. In Russia, the Consulate General in Saint Petersburg observed a two-minute silence with the local Indian diaspora.

In Algeria, employees of IRCON International Limited and their families paid tributes, reaffirming unity against terrorism. In Hamburg, Germany, Finance Senator Andreas Dressel, members of the Hamburger Senate, and the Indian diaspora joined the Consulate General in paying homage.

“The world stands in solidarity with India,” the Consulate in Hamburg posted on X, as tributes continued across continents to honour the memory of those lost in the senseless act of violence.
