Mumbai, May 20: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the state administration to draw up a comprehensive roadmap for the proposed state housing policy and present it before the Cabinet for approval. The directive came during a high-level review meeting held in Mumbai on Monday, with the focus on ensuring “Housing for All” across the state.
Highlighting the need for inclusive development, CM Fadnavis emphasized that the upcoming housing policy will cater to various segments of society, including senior citizens, working women, students, and industrial workers. “In view of increasing urbanisation and rising demand for housing, the state government is committed to providing safe and affordable housing to every section of the population,” he said.

The proposed policy aims to address challenges posed by rapid urban growth, with a focus on affordability, safety, and accessibility. The Chief Minister stressed that the roadmap should be practical, result-oriented, and inclusive, with special attention to vulnerable groups.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik also made key announcements during the day, focusing on improving transparency and fairness in the department’s operations. He advocated for greater consistency in the process of online transfers for officers in the Transport Department.
“Most officers have expressed satisfaction with the online transfer process as it brings transparency and provides preferred postings. Moving forward, consistency and consideration of the challenges faced by women officers must be given top priority,” Minister Sarnaik stated.
As part of the initiative, online transfers for 159 Inspectors of Motor Vehicles (IMVs) were conducted on Monday under the minister’s supervision. He further proposed increasing the number of preference options given to officers from three to five, to help more personnel secure postings of their choice.
The minister directed officials to improve the online transfer system for the upcoming year, ensuring that it remains efficient, transparent, and empathetic to the needs of the workforce—especially female officers.
With both the housing and transport departments moving towards more structured and inclusive reforms, the Maharashtra government continues to push for governance that is citizen-centric and technologically driven.
