New Delhi, May 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, May 28, paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) on his birth anniversary, calling him a towering icon who redefined public service and cinema.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister wrote, “I pay homage to NTR Garu on his birth anniversary. He is widely admired for his efforts to serve society and empower the poor and downtrodden. His cinematic works also continue to enthral audiences. We are all deeply inspired by him.”

The Prime Minister's message resonated across the Telugu-speaking states, where NTR continues to command immense respect and love, decades after his demise. Calling him a visionary and a people's leader, PM Modi underscored the legacy NTR left behind in both public welfare and cultural upliftment. He further reaffirmed the NDA government’s commitment in Andhra Pradesh, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, to carry forward the dreams and values NTR stood for.

Born on May 28, 1923, NTR rose from modest beginnings to become a larger-than-life figure in Indian cinema before transitioning into politics.
