Jammu, Jun 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating the iconic Chenab Bridge the world’s highest railway bridge and the Anji Bridge, India’s first cable-supported rail bridge, launched a scathing attack on Pakistan for targeting Kashmir’s tourism sector through terror.
Addressing a massive public gathering in Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said the Pahalgam terror attack was a deliberate move by Pakistan-based terrorists to hit the livelihood of local Kashmiris and sabotage the region’s growth.

“The cowards from Pakistan did not just attack tourists they attacked humanity and Kashmiriyat,” he said. “Their motive was to incite riots and destroy the lives of poor families who depend on tourism for survival.”
Modi made a heartfelt mention of Adil, a local horse rider and the sole breadwinner of his family, who was killed in the April 22 Pahalgam attack. “By killing innocent people like Adil, they tried to crush the spirit of Kashmir,” he said.
Recalling Operation Sindoor, PM Modi said Pakistan was dealt a severe blow exactly a month ago. “Pakistan will forever remember the humiliation it faced during Operation Sindoor. Our forces turned their terror camps into ruins,” he declared, drawing loud applause.
He also lauded the courage and resolve of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. “The new generation has decided to defeat terrorism with strength and unity,” he said.
Announcing additional aid for border residents affected by shelling, PM Modi said, “Those whose homes were severely damaged will receive Rs 2 lakh, and others with minor damage will get Rs 1 lakh.”
Speaking about India’s defence strength, the Prime Minister hailed the success of Operation Sindoor as a testament to India’s self-reliance in defence. “The world is watching the strength of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Our aim is to become a top global defence exporter, creating new job opportunities for our youth,” he said, urging people to support the ‘Made in India’ initiative.
