Panaji, Jun 15: In the tranquil heart of Goa’s Sattari region, nestled amid lush greenery and whispering woods, a unique spirit is quietly making waves. Vanaha, the latest creation by Revelry Distillery, is not just another gin — it’s a poetic tribute to India’s forests, bottled with care and steeped in nature’s soul.
Drawing its name from the Sanskrit word “van” meaning forest, and “aha” — that moment of realisation — Vanaha seeks to transport connoisseurs into the depths of India's woodlands with every sip. From the earthy aroma of Deodar trees and the sweet notes of wild berries and blossoms, to the refreshing petrichor scent reminiscent of rain-kissed forest floors, this gin is a sensory experience more than just a drink.
Aesthetically crafted, the bottle features a gradient hue of forest greens and turquoise, crowned with a blue-necked woodpecker – a nod to the bird calls often heard in India’s biodiverse terrains. Each botanical used has been consciously selected from across the country’s varied forest landscapes.
But in an era where liquor shelves are brimming with flamboyant labels and fleeting trends, one wonders — is there still room for another gin?
“Right now, tequila is taking over whisky’s shelf space. But tequila, unfortunately, is also among the most adulterated spirits in the global market,” observes Feruzan Bilimoria, beverage specialist and drinks innovator. “Gin, on the other hand, has grown gradually, preserving its authenticity. It’s still a safe, elegant choice.”
While the Indian market has seen a flood of gin brands over the past decade, Vanaha distinguishes itself by offering not just flavour, but feeling — a walk through the woods, a breath of the wild, and a sip of serenity.
Whether you’re a gin aficionado or a curious explorer of spirits, Vanaha promises an experience that’s as refreshing as a monsoon breeze through the Western Ghats.
