Mangaluru, Jun 28: St Agnes Kindergarten came alive with colour and cheer as the little learners celebrated Climatique – Weather Dress-Up Day with boundless enthusiasm on June 27. The event was thoughtfully designed to help children explore and understand various weather conditions through an experiential and engaging approach.

The young students arrived dressed as delightful representations of the three main seasons summer, winter, and rainy transforming the campus into a vibrant celebration of nature’s cycles. From cool sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats to cosy scarves, raincoats, and gumboots, the variety of attire was both educational and endearing. With remarkable confidence, each child shared a few lines about the season they portrayed, speaking about the weather, clothing, and seasonal food associated with it.

Children representing summer spoke about the joys of sipping lime juice, enjoying tender coconut water, relishing curd, and staying cool with juicy watermelons. Those portraying winter highlighted the comfort of warm soups, the richness of dry fruits, and the indulgence of hot chocolate. Meanwhile, the monsoon enthusiasts described the cosy pleasures of enjoying snacks while listening to the rhythm of falling rain.

The event was a wonderful platform for enhancing communication skills, self-expression, and seasonal awareness through listening and speaking activities. Adding to the learning experience, children participated in an array of season-themed craft activities. They crafted a radiant sun collage with coloured paper, stuck cotton on penguin cut-outs to learn about winter animals, and created cheerful umbrellas and caps to celebrate the rainy season. A tree craft using dry leaves illustrated changes in nature during the dry months, fostering environmental awareness and creativity.

Teachers played a pivotal role in guiding the children throughout the day, nurturing curiosity and encouraging imagination. Classrooms echoed with songs related to the seasons, and joyful games were conducted to keep spirits high. The decorated flannel boards further enhanced the seasonal ambience, turning the learning space into a visual delight.

‘Climatique’ proved to be a joyful, enriching experience that seamlessly blended learning with creativity and fun. The smiles, laughter, and lively participation reflected the success of the event in making the concept of weather come alive for the little ones. It was a memorable day one that left a lasting impression on young minds and hearts. Events like these continue to affirm the school’s commitment to nurturing holistic, hands-on learning experiences for its youngest learners.
