New Delhi, Jul 3: Aadhaar-based authentication transactions reached a new milestone in June 2025, with over 229.33 crore transactions carried out across India, reflecting a surge in the use of digital identity systems and the growing momentum of the country’s digital economy.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Electronics and IT on Thursday, this figure is not only higher than that of May 2025 but also marks a 7.8% increase over June 2024, signalling Aadhaar’s increasing role in enabling welfare delivery and citizen services.
The cumulative number of Aadhaar authentication transactions has now crossed 15,452 crore since the programme's inception.

One of the key highlights of June 2025 was the exponential growth in face authentication transactions, which hit a record 15.87 crore, compared to 4.61 crore in the same month last year. The face authentication technology, developed in-house by UIDAI using AI/ML, has now been used nearly 175 crore times, underlining its rising popularity for secure and seamless identification.
The biometric solution is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, offering users a contactless and convenient identity verification option that maintains high security standards. More than 100 entities, including government ministries, banks, telecom companies, and oil marketing firms, are actively using face authentication for efficient and transparent service delivery.
In parallel, Aadhaar’s e-KYC (Know Your Customer) services also witnessed strong adoption, with 39.47 crore e-KYC transactions processed in June. The e-KYC mechanism has been instrumental in enhancing user onboarding, improving service efficiency, and supporting financial inclusion in both banking and non-banking sectors.
Officials said the sustained rise in Aadhaar-based authentications demonstrates its pivotal role in fostering a digitally empowered society, ensuring transparency, and simplifying access to essential services for millions of residents.
