New Delhi, Nov 6: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday announced that the Class X and Class XII Board examinations for the 2026-27 academic year will commence on February 16, 2027, with all papers scheduled to begin at 10.30 am.

More than 19.8 lakh students of Class XII and over 26.5 lakh students of Class X have registered for the 2027 Board examinations, the Board said while releasing the date sheets.

In a statement, the CBSE said the date sheets were prepared based on the data submitted by schools through the List of Candidates (LOC). With the LOC submission process completed, the Board now has the final details of the subject combinations selected by students.

The examinations will cover 83 subjects in Class X and 121 subjects in Class XII. The date sheets have been released 101 days ahead of the commencement of the examinations.

The Board said it had considered more than 40,000 subject combinations while preparing the schedules to ensure that examinations of two subjects opted for by the same student do not clash.

Adequate gaps have also been provided between examinations of subjects commonly chosen together by students in both classes.

The CBSE said tentative schedules of major entrance examinations for Class XII students had been taken into account, with efforts made to complete the Board examinations well before these entrance tests begin. This is intended to help students plan their preparation effectively.

The number of candidates appearing at each examination centre on a particular day was also considered to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations.

The Board further said the examination schedule had been designed to minimise the prolonged absence of teachers from their schools during the evaluation process.
