Nagpur, Jul 7: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday raised concerns over the growing atmosphere of global conflict, warning that the ongoing wars between Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Iran have created conditions that could lead to a World War at any time.
Speaking at the launch of the book ‘Beyond Borders’ in Nagpur, the senior BJP leader criticised the authoritarianism and dictatorship of global superpowers, which he said is eroding coordination, harmony, and love across nations.
“There is an atmosphere of conflict across the world. Amid wars between Israel and Iran, and Russia and Ukraine, the situation is such that a World War can break out anytime,” Gadkari said, stressing the urgency of international deliberations on peace and policy-making.
He hailed India as the land of Gautam Buddha, which has always spread the message of truth, non-violence, and peace, and said these ideals should be revisited in light of growing tensions.
Highlighting the changing nature of warfare, Gadkari noted the rising use of missiles and drones, which has made it increasingly difficult to safeguard humanity. “Earlier, wars were fought with tanks and aircraft. Today, missiles are launched on civilian areas, creating a serious humanitarian crisis,” he added.
He cautioned that technological advancements in warfare were reducing the effectiveness of conventional defence systems, thereby intensifying the risks to civilian lives.
"It may not be appropriate to say, but the truth is, all of this is slowly leading to destruction. The superpowers’ dictatorial approach is dismantling the very fabric of global peace,” Gadkari remarked.
Calling for urgent global dialogue, he stressed the need to formulate future strategies based on current international events, ensuring that humanity and peace are prioritised over power and conflict.
