Mangaluru, Jul 18: The feast of our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patroness of Ladyhill Victoria Composite PU College, was celebrated on July 15 with great devotion. The students of 2nd PU science hosted the programme in honour of Mother Mary.
Sr Rose Marie AC, an educationist and retired nun at Annunciation convent was the guest for the day. Along with the guest, principal Sr Sharmila AC, vice president of Victorian Memorias Reshel Bretny Fernandes, staff and students witnessed the occasion.

The celebration began with a solemn prayer service that highlighted Carmelite spirituality and faith towards Mother Mary to shower her divine blessings on all. Asiya Falak welcomed the audience with her infectious smile. The audience were mesmerised with a soulful prayer dance. The importance of Brown Scapular was enacted in the skit and gave the message that whoever wears this will be protected from all harm and danger.
The importance of the feast and its celebration was presented by Sana Halima and Fathima Salwa. A small quiz based on the Carmel feast was held for the audience and the winners were awarded. A dance on Konkani music was also a part of the performance.
The chief guest Sr Rose Marie A.C addressed the gathering and congratulated the students for their wonderful and meaningful performance. She gave a brief insight about the history behind the feast of Mount Carmel and importance of the day for the Carmelite Congregation. Principal Sr Sharmila AC also shared her valuable appreciation. Alisha Maryam Fathima proposed the vote of thanks.
Fathimath Suha and Afra were the graceful anchors of the event.
