Passenger slaps man having panic attack on IndiGo flight, offender offloaded

Mumbai, Aug 1: A shocking incident unfolded aboard an IndiGo Mumbai-Kolkata flight today when a man suffering a panic attack was slapped by a fellow passenger, leading to the latter being removed from the aircraft by the pilot.

The unsettling scene, captured on video by a co-passenger, shows two crew members attending to the distressed man near the aisle. As they helped him out, a fellow flyer suddenly slapped him.

“Sir, please don’t do this,” a flight attendant is heard telling the aggressor. Another passenger filming the incident confronted the assaulter, asking, “Why did you hit him?” The man retorted, “We are facing problems because of him,” only to be met with a firm response: “Yes, all of us are facing issues, but that doesn’t mean you hit him.”

The crew was then requested to bring water for the man who was visibly shaken.

IndiGo later released a statement condemning the assault, calling the behaviour "completely unacceptable." The airline confirmed that the aggressor was identified as unruly and handed over to security authorities on arrival.

"Our crew acted as per standard procedures and all regulatory bodies have been informed," the statement added.
