Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Aug 11: A sugarcane-cutting couple from Beed was reunited with their son on Friday, nearly eight years after he went missing. The emotional reunion took place at the office of Beed Superintendent of Police Navneet Kanwat.
The son, now 24, had left home in December 2017 while studying in Std X, upset over his academic struggles. At the time, his parents, from Khalwat Limgaon village, were working seasonally in Karnataka, while he stayed with a teacher in Nalwandi to continue his studies. Being uneducated, the couple did not lodge a missing complaint until 2023. The case was later handed to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and assigned to officer Pallavi Jadhav.

Jadhav, along with the local crime branch led by Shriram Khatawkar, traced the youth within a month. Investigations revealed that after leaving Beed, he worked as a security guard in Pune, learned metal fabrication, and later moved to Gujarat for work. He returned to Pune a week ago, where police persuaded him to meet his parents.
“The boy feared being scolded for dropping out, but his parents could not hold back their tears when they embraced him,” Jadhav said.
