Tragedy in Hyderabad: Five family members found dead in suspected suicide

Hyderabad, Aug 21: On Thursday, an entire family of five was discovered dead in their home in Hyderabad, in a case that police are currently investigating as a mass suicide. The victims, identified as 60-year-old Lakshmaiah, his wife Venkatamma (55), their daughter Kavita (24), her husband Anil (32), and their two-year-old son Appu, were found by neighbors at their residence in Maktha Mahabubpet.

Originally from Gulbarga, Karnataka, the family had been living in Hyderabad for six years. Police and a forensics team rushed to the scene to collect evidence after being notified by neighbors.

According to relatives, Kavita, her husband, and their child had been staying with her parents for about a week while searching for a new house. A friend of Anil's said he had spoken to him the previous evening, and Anil had mentioned they had found a new rental and were planning to move on Thursday. Both Anil and Lakshmaiah worked as construction laborers.

Investigators believe the family may have taken this drastic step due to financial distress, possibly related to loans they had taken out to support themselves after moving to the city for work. While the police are treating the case as a potential suicide, a definitive cause of death is pending the results of the autopsy. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination as the investigation continues, with officials questioning relatives and friends to piece together what led to the tragic deaths.
