Muzaffarnagar, Aug 31: Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar have arrested a woman for allegedly strangling her husband to death in his sleep over neglect, officials said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on August 29, and the accused, Kavita (30), was taken into custody on Saturday. Station House Officer Dinesh Chand Bhagel confirmed, “Sanjay Kumar (40) was killed by his second wife, Kavita.” Police were alerted about the crime by the victim’s father, Bhopal Singh.

During interrogation, Kavita admitted to strangling Sanjay while he was asleep, claiming he had been “neglecting” her in favour of his first wife. Sanjay and Kavita had married in 2000, while his first wife continues to reside in his native village of Tanda Majra.
