Mumbai, Sept 3: Charkop Kannada Association’s 18th annual mega-meet was held at Poisar Gymkhana Hall in Kandivali West, presided over by association president Ravindra M Shetty.
Delivering an impassioned address, he emphasised the remarkable collective strength within the association and its pivotal role in organisational growth over the past 25 years.
Noting that the group has consistently delivered distinctive and high-quality programming akin to the golden era of Tulu-Kannadigas, he attributed the success of its events to the co-operation of office bearers, members and sub-committees.

Shetty paid tribute to the guiding counsel and encouragement of senior members and well-wishers, pointing out that the association has always undertaken endeavours close to people’s hearts.
Through diverse social, cultural and educational initiatives, the association has established itself as a model of Kannada unity, especially during this joyful Silver Jubilee celebration of the group’s heritage. In keeping with this spirit, he appealed for continued support and involvement from all members and friends.
At the start of the function, Shetty, along with other office-bearers and trusted committee members, lit the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the gathering. Members of the female contingent rendered a soulful prayer song, following which honorary general secretary Prakash M Kotiyan extended a warm welcome to attendees.
The annual report of the 17th annual meet and the year’s financial statements were presented to the assembly and approved without objection. Sadashiva C Poojary was appointed internal auditor and Vilas D. Maddi & Co, external auditor for the ensuing year.
Shetty further highlighted that in the previous academic year, students who excelled in SSC, HSC, graduation and post-graduation were honoured with awards and stipends—a gesture recognising their achievements and encouraging scholarly excellence.
