Bhatkal, Sep 10: A passenger who lost his bag while boarding a train at Madgaon station had a happy reunion with his belongings, thanks to the timely efforts of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) under ‘Operation Amanat’.

On September 5, Rajesh Mohan Achari, a resident of Murudeshwar, Bhatkal, boarded Train No. 12779 in a hurry and accidentally left his bag behind on Platform No. 1. He later contacted the Railways helpline Rail Madad (139) to report the loss.

RPF personnel immediately swung into action, and head constable Pawan Singh Khatri found the bag near the ramp of the new bridge. After proper verification and paperwork, the bag was opened on September 9 in the presence of the passenger.

Inside, officials found Rs 10,000 in cash, clothes worth Rs 1,200, important ID documents (Aadhaar, RC, license, PAN), and a charger. All the items were safely handed back to Achari, who thanked the RPF for their honesty and swift action.

The RPF has urged passengers to remain alert while traveling and assured that, under Operation Amanat, every effort will be made to trace and return lost belongings.
