Puttur, Aug 10: A case has been registered after a group of four to five men arriving in a car allegedly attempted to kidnap two minor boys who were returning home after playing. The incident took place at Adyal in Hirebandadi village near Uppinangady.
As it was a holiday on Saturday, the two boys, hailing from the Mudipu and Kadyottu areas of Hirebandadi, had gone to the school ground to play. While they were walking back home and reached Adyal, a group of men parked their car by the roadside and approached them. They reportedly coaxed the boys to get into the car, claiming they were heading in the same direction and offering to drop them off.
According to the complaint filed with the police, when the boys refused the offer, two men from the group began chasing them. The terrified boys managed to run away and escape.
The parents of the boys informed the media that they decided to file a formal police complaint after taking the matter seriously. Their decision was prompted by local eyewitnesses who reported that the men had parked their car in the vicinity for a long time and were exhibiting suspicious behavior.
A case regarding the incident has been registered at the Uppinangady police station, and further investigations are currently underway.
