New Delhi, Sep 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended warm wishes to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on his 75th birthday, lauding his leadership, vision, and transformative contributions to the organisation.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi described Bhagwat as a leader inspired by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, dedicating his life to societal transformation and strengthening the spirit of harmony and fraternity. “Praying for his long and healthy life in service of Maa Bharti,” the Prime Minister added.
In a detailed note, PM Modi reflected on Bhagwat’s journey in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), starting from his early years as a Pracharak during the challenging Emergency period, to his grassroots engagement in Maharashtra and Bihar, and ultimately his leadership as Sarsanghchalak since 2009.
He noted that Bhagwat’s tenure brought significant modernisation to the organisation, including uniform changes and adaptations in training programs, and highlighted his ability to maintain continuity while embracing change. “Broadly speaking, Bhagwat Ji's tenure will be considered the most transformative period in the 100-year journey of the RSS,” PM Modi wrote.
The Prime Minister also praised Bhagwat’s connect with youth, his empathetic leadership, and his encouragement of RSS participation in national initiatives like Swachh Bharat Mission and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. PM Modi underscored Bhagwat’s Panch Parivartan framework, aimed at fostering social harmony, family values, environmental awareness, national selfhood, and civic responsibility.
Recalling personal associations, PM Modi mentioned his close ties with Bhagwat’s family and the inspiration he drew from Bhagwat’s father, Madhukarrao Bhagwat, in shaping Mohan Bhagwat’s dedication to nation-building.
Highlighting Bhagwat’s personal qualities, the Prime Minister described him as soft-spoken, attentive, and musically talented, with a lifelong passion for reading and intellectual engagement.
Concluding his reflections, PM Modi noted the symbolic significance of the RSS centenary year coinciding with major national celebrations and reiterated his admiration for Bhagwat’s leadership, vision, and embodiment of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
