Puri, Sep 11: In a shocking incident, a woman school teacher in Puri district, Odisha, was assaulted, garlanded with slippers, and paraded through the streets by her husband and associates on Tuesday night, following allegations of an extramarital relationship. Her male companion, also a teacher, faced public humiliation, with videos of the ordeal going viral on social media.

According to police, the woman had been living separately from her husband, a college lecturer, due to marital disputes, and was staying in a rented house in Neemapada. Around 8 pm, her husband allegedly forced his way into her residence, suspecting her of infidelity, and reportedly found her with a male friend.

Footage shows the woman being dragged out, beaten, and forced to walk through the streets while garlanded, as crowds looked on. Her companion was stripped down to his underwear and similarly humiliated. Both were compelled to walk toward the local police station amid bystanders recording the incident.

Police intervened after the videos went viral. Authorities confirmed that the husband and one of his associates were arrested on charges of outraging the woman’s modesty and unlawful assault. Further investigations are underway.
