New Delhi, Sep 15: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday asserted that India was the world’s guiding force 3,000 years ago, achieving remarkable technological progress without conquest or exploitation.
Speaking at the launch of Prahlad Patel’s book on Narmada Parikrama, Bhagwat said, “We led the world. We did not conquer any country, suppress anyone’s trade, change anyone or convert anyone. Wherever we went, we gave civilisation and knowledge, learnt scriptures and improved life.”

Highlighting India’s ancient values, he noted that every nation had its own identity and maintained harmonious communication. “Because of the awareness and feeling of purity our ancestors gave us, India was the best country. There had been no conflict for 3,000 years. Technological progress was high, but the environment did not deteriorate. Human life was happy and cultured,” he added.
Earlier on Friday, during the 7th Foundation Day of Bramhakumaris Vishwa Shanti Sarovar in Nagpur, Bhagwat remarked that global powers imposed tariffs on India “out of fear” of its growth. “People fear what would happen if someone else grows bigger. Where will they be if India grows? So, they imposed a tariff,” he said, stressing that such measures reflected a self-centred mindset rather than India’s actions.
