New Delhi, Sep 23: In a quirky order, the Delhi High Court asked two neighbours, who clashed over pet handling, to “serve buttermilk and pizzas” to children and staff at a government-run childcare institution as a condition to quash police cases filed against each other.

The Bench of Justice Arun Monga was hearing petitions to junk cross-cases where both parties had accused each other of assault, intimidation, and misbehaviour. The neighbours later informed the court that the matter had been amicably settled.

Acknowledging the dispute as a private matter, the court noted that criminal proceedings “would serve no useful purpose.” However, one complainant being a pizza baker prompted the unusual condition.

“Each inmate and the attendants and other staff of the Ashram shall be served one pizza along with Amul chaach tetra pack. The pizzas shall be baked by the complainant in the FIR… and shall be treated as community service jointly carried out by all the complainants and the accused,” Justice Monga said.

The pizzas and buttermilk are to be served at Sanskar Ashram near GTB Hospital, turning a personal feud into a gesture for the community.
