Anantapur, Sep 26: In a heartbreaking incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl died after accidentally falling into a pot of boiling milk kept inside a school kitchen at Ambedkar Gurukula School in Bukkarayasamudram village, Anantapur district.
The tragedy, captured on CCTV, occurred when 17-month-old Akshita accompanied her mother Krishnaveni, a security guard employed under Seva Supreme Agency, to the school’s kitchen. The milk, prepared for distribution to students, had been placed under a ceiling fan to cool.

According to the footage, Akshita and her mother briefly stepped out and returned, after which the toddler wandered back alone, following a cat that approached the container. As she neared the pot, she lost her balance and fell directly into the hot milk, sustaining severe burns across her body.
Hearing her screams, Krishnaveni rushed in, pulled her daughter out and took her to Anantapur Government Hospital. Doctors advised shifting her to Kurnool Government Hospital for advanced treatment, but despite all efforts, Akshita succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
