Lucknow, Sep 27: Calling Dussehra a festival of triumph over evil, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday night directed officials to impose the strictest punishments on anyone attempting to disturb peace in the state.
Reviewing law and order with senior officials, zonal ADGs, IGs, divisional commissioners, district magistrates and police chiefs, the CM expressed displeasure over recent incidents of objectionable processions and provocative slogans in Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Moradabad, Budaun, Maharajganj, Unnao, Sambhal, Agra and Bareilly. He said these were part of a “well-planned conspiracy to disrupt the state’s harmony,” which would not be tolerated.
Ordering immediate FIRs, he stressed that both organisers and masterminds must be identified and their properties investigated. “Not a single wrongdoer involved in these processions should be spared. Scan video footage, monitor social media, and take action against every one of them,” he told officials.
Reiterating his zero-tolerance policy against crime, Adityanath said the safety of every citizen is the government’s top priority. He reviewed the ongoing Mission Shakti 5.0 launched during Sharadiya Navratri and instructed authorities to prevent infiltration of disguised offenders during events like garba and dandiya.
The CM directed swift action in cases of crimes against women, warning that police stations, outposts and even PRVs will be held accountable for incidents such as molestation, chain-snatching or acid attacks. Zonal ADGs will review the situation station-wise after Dussehra and submit reports.
Adityanath dismissed rumours of drone reconnaissance and theft in Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Basti and Prayagraj, ordering the arrest of those spreading such falsehoods and strict social-media monitoring. He also insisted on eradicating attempts to stoke caste conflict and directed Durga Puja committees to follow all safety norms for Ravana Dahan ceremonies.
The CM instructed stringent checks against cow smuggling and slaughterhouses, asking police captains to conduct surprise inspections. He further urged enhanced traffic and security arrangements for the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida, which saw around 49,000 visitors on its second day.
