Rudraprayag, Oct 26: The bodies of seven of the nine people who went missing following heavy rains in the Chenagad area two months ago have been recovered, officials confirmed.

According to the district administration, two bodies were recovered from debris on Friday, followed by five more during a search operation on Saturday. One of the deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Singh Negi (25), a forest worker from Uchhola village in the Guptkashi area. Efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining recovered bodies.

The search continues for the two remaining missing persons, authorities said.

The incident occurred on August 28–29, when heavy rain, landslides, and cloudbursts hit Chenagad, causing significant loss of life and property. Nine people, including four Nepali labourers, were reported missing in the aftermath.

Despite the challenging terrain, the district administration, police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and other agencies have been actively involved in the search and rescue operations, working tirelessly to locate the missing individuals.
