New Delhi, Oct 27: In a shocking incident, a doctor working at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi was allegedly raped by a man who posed as an Army officer. Police said the accused, identified as Aarav from Chhatarpur, had faked his identity to gain the doctor’s trust before assaulting her.

According to police sources, Aarav, who actually worked as a delivery person, pretended to be a Lieutenant posted in Jammu and Kashmir. He first connected with the victim on Instagram, introducing himself as an Army officer. After a few conversations, the two exchanged phone numbers and began chatting on WhatsApp.

To make his lie convincing, Aarav sent the doctor photographs of himself wearing an Army uniform. Earlier this month, he claimed to have returned to Delhi and visited the doctor at her residence in Masjid Moth. During the meeting, he allegedly laced her food with a sedative and raped her after she lost consciousness.

The victim regained consciousness later and immediately lodged a complaint at the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station on October 16. Based on her statement, police conducted raids at several locations in Chhatarpur and arrested the accused.

During interrogation, Aarav confessed that he had purchased the Army uniform from a local shop to impersonate an officer and deceive the doctor.

Police have booked the accused under charges of rape, impersonation, and criminal conspiracy. Further investigation is underway.
