Saharanpur, Nov 1: In a shocking turn of events, an 18-year-old woman from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has claimed that the man recently convicted of raping her is actually her boyfriend, not her assailant.
According to reports, the case dates back to 2022 when the woman, then a minor, had gone missing from her home. Her parents filed a police complaint accusing their neighbour, identified as Shakib, of kidnapping her. Based on the complaint, police arrested Shakib and rescued the girl.

Following the investigation, a court found Shakib guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, sentencing him to 20 years of imprisonment along with a fine.
However, in a surprising twist after the verdict, the woman reportedly appeared at Shakib’s residence and expressed her wish to stay there. Speaking to local media and officials, she alleged that her father had pressured her to give a false statement during the trial.
The woman further stated that she intends to marry Shakib after his release and will continue to live in his house until then.
Authorities are yet to comment on the woman’s new claims, which have sparked widespread discussion about the complexities of consent, coercion, and justice in sensitive cases involving minors.
