New Delhi, Nov 3: India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to offer doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) services to pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995, the Ministry of Communications announced on Monday.

Through this collaboration, IPPB, a fully government-owned entity under the Department of Posts, will leverage its vast network of over 1.65 lac post offices and 3 lac postal service providers—including postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks—equipped with digital devices, Aadhaar-based facial recognition, and fingerprint biometric authentication. This allows EPFO pensioners to submit their Digital Life Certificates conveniently from home, eliminating the need to visit bank branches or EPFO offices.

The EPFO will bear the entire cost of issuing the Digital Life Certificate, making the service free for pensioners.

“This partnership with EPFO reinforces IPPB’s mission to bring essential financial and citizen services to every doorstep in India. Our technology-enabled postal network ensures that EPFO pensioners—especially in rural and semi-urban areas—can complete their life certificate submission seamlessly, with dignity and convenience,” said R Viswesvaran, MD and CEO, IPPB.

The initiative aligns with the government’s Digital India and Ease of Living missions, leveraging technology and postal infrastructure to ensure inclusive service delivery for senior citizens.

IPPB first introduced the doorstep Digital Life Certificate service in 2020, generating Jeevan Pramaan for pensioners via Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication, significantly reducing turnaround time. Upon completion, pensioners receive a confirmation SMS, and the certificate is accessible online the following day.
