Bulandshahr, Nov 6: Tragedy struck the festive atmosphere of Kartik Purnima Fair in Ramghat village on Wednesday evening when a swing suddenly collapsed, leading to the death of a six-year-old girl and injuries to five others.

According to police, the incident occurred around 6 pm when the swing came crashing down due to a broken axle bearing. The victim, identified as Himanshi (6), who was standing nearby, sustained grievous injuries, while five others riding the swing were also hurt in the mishap.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Tejveer Singh said the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared the child dead. The other injured persons were discharged after receiving first aid.

Authorities have taken four individuals into custody in connection with the incident. A case is being registered at the Ramghat police station under relevant sections, and further investigation is underway, police said.
