Faridabad, Nov 12: A bomb disposal squad of the National Security Guard (NSG) reached Khandawali village in Faridabad on Wednesday evening after a red Ford EcoSport linked to Dr Umar ur Nabi, the prime suspect in the Red Fort blast case, was found parked near a farmhouse, officials said.

The area within a 200-metre radius was cordoned off by security personnel to ensure public safety. The NSG team was called in following intelligence inputs from Jammu and Kashmir Police to check the vehicle for explosives.

Once declared safe, the car will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for forensic examination. “The area has been completely secured. The vehicle will be transferred to the NIA once cleared by NSG,” said an official.

According to Faridabad Police spokesperson Yashpal Singh, the car bearing registration number DL10 CK 0458 was found near a farmhouse belonging to an acquaintance of Dr Nabi, who also worked at Al-Falah Medical College.

Dr Umar ur Nabi became the prime suspect after the i20 car that exploded near Red Fort on Monday evening was traced to him. Police said he evaded multiple raids in Faridabad that led to the arrest of his associates and the recovery of nearly 3,000 kg of explosives from a Jaish-e-Mohammed module.
