Five Ghatkopar students hospitalised after suspected food poisoning

Mumbai, Nov 17: Five students of KVK School in Indira Nagar, Ghatkopar West, were taken to hospital on Monday afternoon after showing signs of suspected food poisoning shortly after eating samosas from the school canteen. The incident occurred around 2.15 pm, when the children began vomiting, feeling dizzy, and complaining of stomach pain, prompting teachers to alert the school administration.

All five students were immediately shifted to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar East, where doctors carried out initial examinations. Dr. Bharti Mandal from the civic-run hospital said the symptoms pointed strongly toward a foodborne infection. “The first two children came in with nausea, and three more followed. After checking their vitals, we placed them under 24-hour observation,” she said.

Despite medical advice, the parents later discharged the children on their own.
