Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nov 18: A shocking incident has surfaced from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar where a young woman was allegedly assaulted inside a café after being lured with a promise of marriage. The incident reportedly took place on February 24, 2024, around 5 pm at the MH20 Café located in the Ajab Nagar area near Paithan Gate Road.

According to the complaint lodged at Kranti Chowk Police Station, the survivor and the accused, identified as Bhagwat Gyanoba Mulgir (resident of Mahatpuri, Gangakhed taluk, Parbhani district), knew each other beforehand. The woman alleged that Mulgir developed closeness with her and later took her to the café where he established physical relations with her under the false promise of marriage.

Following the incident, the survivor informed Mulgir that she had become pregnant. As per the complaint, Mulgir reacted aggressively, hurled caste-based abuses, and allegedly forced her to undergo an abortion by giving her certain medicines. The woman further claimed that he threatened to make their photos viral if she refused to take the abortion pills.

The complaint also states that when the survivor tried contacting Mulgir multiple times, he blocked her number. After this, she informed his sister and father about the incident. However, they too allegedly abused her and threatened her with dire consequences, telling her she did not know who they were and warning her to “do whatever you want.”

Based on the woman’s detailed complaint, Kranti Chowk Police have registered a case against Bhagwat Mulgir under relevant sections related to assault, atrocities against women, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
