Jammu, Nov 20: In a significant action under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday seized the property of a suspected drug peddler in the Narwal area of Jammu city.

According to an official statement, police in Jammu’s South Zone attached property worth ?15 lakh belonging to Vishal Kumar of Narwal. The seized asset is a Scorpio S11 (Registration No. JK08G 3535), confiscated under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act.

Kumar, the son of Ram Singh and a resident of Boot Polish Mohalla, Rajiv Nagar, Narwal, is an accused in FIR No. 295/2025, registered at Police Station Bahu Fort. The case includes charges under Sections 8, 21, 22, 25, 27A, 29 of the NDPS Act, along with Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The attachment order was executed by the Investigating Officer of the Narwal police post, in line with the statutory provisions of the NDPS Act. The operation took place under the supervision of the SSP Jammu, with direct guidance from the SP City South, SDPO City East, and the SHO Bahu Fort.

The police affirmed their ongoing commitment to combating the drug menace, noting that strong legal action will continue against all offenders.

This move aligns with the broader strategy of J&K Police and security forces, who have intensified operations not only against terrorists but also against overground workers (OGWs), sympathisers, drug traffickers and individuals involved in hawala networks and other unlawful financial channels. Security agencies maintain that proceeds from narcotics smuggling and illegal money transfers often feed into the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, making financial disruption a critical part of counterterrorism efforts.
