Patna, Nov 21: Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Friday said he did not want to appear “greedy” by demanding the deputy chief minister’s post, even as he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allocating two cabinet berths to the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) in the new Bihar government.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Chirag said the LJP (RV) contested seats considered weak for the NDA yet secured a strong victory. “Our party won 19 of the 29 seats we were allotted. This was possible because of the blessings of the people and the Prime Minister’s support,” he said.

He added that the two cabinet positions given to his party were “more than enough”. “How much more greedy can Chirag Paswan be?” he remarked.
The NDA returned to power with 202 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, with the BJP winning 89, JD(U) 85, LJP(RV) 19, HAM 5 and RLM 4 seats.
Reflecting on the party’s revival, he said, “In 2021, I was left alone after the party split. In 2024, the PM trusted us and gave five Lok Sabha seats. We won all five. If I demand more now, no one will be more greedy than me.”
Chirag also announced plans to expand the party’s presence beyond Bihar. “We are preparing to contest the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab as part of the NDA,” he said.
