Mehsana, Nov 23: A seven-year-old class 2 student was allegedly drugged and raped twice inside her school premises in Vijapur, Mehsana district, sparking shock and anger across the region. Police have launched a search for the absconding accused youth.
According to police, the incident occurred on November 19 and 20. On the first day, the accused reportedly took the child to a garden behind the school building and assaulted her, warning her not to disclose the incident. The next day, he allegedly threatened her again and took her to the same spot, where he injected her right arm with an unknown substance before committing the assault.
The girl later developed severe abdominal pain, following which her parents learnt of the crime. She is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
A complaint has been registered, and an FIR has been filed under the POCSO Act. Vijapur Police Inspector G.A. Solanki said, “We have begun a detailed investigation. CCTV footage from the school is being examined, and a medical report has been sought to identify the substance used in the injection.”
Police teams continue to search for the accused as the investigation progresses.
